About TwoTankHome.com
I grew up in a house on a septic system, which mostly meant I knew not to flush things I shouldn't. When my wife and I had our own home built fifteen years later, I had to figure out the rest for real — tank size, drainfield location, propane supplier, all of it. I'd spent years in construction, so I wasn't starting from zero. But owning the systems yourself is different. This site is the resource I kept wishing existed.
The construction background helped. I've done trim work, roofing, flooring — I know how homes are built, how they go together, and how to have a real conversation with a contractor without getting taken advantage of. But I'm not a plumber. I'm not a gas tech. I'm a homeowner who made every decision when our house was being built — lot selection, tank sizing, propane setup — and has been living with those decisions ever since.
What I found when I went looking for help online was a lot of content written by people who clearly hadn't dealt with these systems firsthand. Generic advice. Vague cost ranges. "Consult a professional" where an actual answer should be. So I started writing the stuff I wanted to find.
What you'll find here
Practical guides on septic maintenance intervals, what services actually cost, how to troubleshoot common problems, and when to call a pro. On the propane side: how to shop suppliers, understand pricing seasons, choose appliances, and make sure you never run out at the wrong time.
Where a product recommendation makes sense, I'll link to it — sometimes via Amazon's affiliate program, which means I earn a small commission at no cost to you. Where you need a licensed pro, I'll point you toward the Find a Pro page.
What this site isn't
It's not a contractor directory, a real estate site, or an SEO content farm. There's no team of "content writers" cranking out articles — just me, working through the questions I've had to answer for myself. The credibility here is straightforward: I live on both systems. Everything I write is coming from that place.
If you've got a problem I haven't covered yet, the Find a Pro page is the best place to start. Describe what you're dealing with and I'll do my best to connect you with someone who can actually help.
